Usually, your best clients are the ones that bring the most money into your business and the most fulfillment and joy. They get great results and they refer you over and over.
Marketing data is actually a biased reflection of reality. Someone decided which numbers to show you on a dashboard, and that person had different needs and assumptions than you do. While business runs on numbers, a rise in a metric and the subsequent dopamine hit can become a reward in itself - even if it's the wrong metric for you.
Your metrics also need to make internal sense and reflect more than business or financial goals. Otherwise, you will be fighting against yourself to achieve them.
When people follow, subscribe or choose to buy a product or service from you (prioritizing a share of their wallet for your offer over other investments), there's a reason why that happens. Being able to articulate it, whether in person or at scale means, unsurprisingly, more sales.
While I treasure impact, community and education, marketing's primary purpose is to create revenue.
